The exclusive Brethren, as with many other churches, think they are beyond reproach, and completely above the law.
If you really want to know what is going on, I recomend that you read the Michael Bachelard book on the Exclusive Brethren, and read the chapter on what occurred in Albury in the 1990′s. It is utterly shameful and disgusting, and bears a remarkable resemblance to what has happened here in New Zealand. The only reason the brethren are sorry, is that they have been caught with their pants down, both literally and metaphorically, and it is not a good look. This also goes back to Aberdeen, where a similar incident was also covered up.

The exclusive’s never taught the importance of upholding the law and never respected the judicial process. They taught that the exclusive church was the greatest law on earth…once proclaiming one person innocent that the law of the land had convicted and sent to jail….you may still find it in print. Yes they consider it abhorrent to get caught by law inforcement officers, but have consistantly covered up sexual,verbal, moral and physical abuse.
If all these abuses were to be stamped out of that group the whole hierarchy would crumble. In Brucies own words “the whole recovery hindges on the purity of the late James Taylor Jnr. If he only was to face the facts about JTJnr and his abuse he would realise the recovery that he is fantasising about is already finished.
