Exactly, Mr Shirreff, you love to quote scripture and defend your mate. Why? because you are just like him but unlike him, you haven't been caught yet.

Hey! give Marty the benefit of some grace, I grew up in same locale and witnessed as many delusional impostors as he could have based his mistakes on. It is well shown and known that we had habitual fakes, police impersonators, many men who impersonated a perfect family life, many men who impersonated a perfect spiritual life (only to be shown up as pathetic tossers and losers)... for the only child of a single mother, growing up in a house of two single women and their mother (in an affluent suburb) there were no strong mentors or men to shape Martin's life. It is easy to point to any shortcomings, but there are few who will stand by the orphan or fatherless as advocate.
Martin's Grandfather was Dr. George Seeley, mate of Mr. Taylor (Jr) Withdrawn from in old age for being an alcoholic? (early in Martin's childhood)

I am not spiritual, Solomonesque or a theologian but in any view of law there are two sides to a story... consider this; Zechariah 7 v 9

Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew loving-kindness and mercies one to another,

10 and oppress not the widow and the fatherless, the stranger and the afflicted; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

Give him a break... pray for him...or at least a word of encouragement!

He possibly heard Janis Joplin's "oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz" too many times! :-) AMG SLK 55? Yes! Almost plausible.

To me it seems rediculous to blame Martin Seeley's upbringing among the Exclusive Brthren as contributing to his crimes. It is obviously greed on his own part & not his upbringing that is at fault (as I see it)
I too was brought up among the Exclusive Brethren & like many others who are not in the religion now, have not resorted to crime like this Martin Seeley has.
In actual fact when I was brought up among the Brethren we were taught to always pay any accounts on time.
We are ALWAYS responsible for our own actions.
