Everything in this world goes on interpretation and facts. When one does a Law degree in this country, the law can seem confusing to the newcomer. It can state one thing and mean another. As my son has now done a Law degree, I have been thinking of other avenues of study and when one looks at the mess of the so-called present-day Churches, I probably have a point. The Bible can be difficult to plow through but it is the only subject matter that has been inspired by God Himself. No other book can be so helpful, practical or so full of love for anyone who has gone astray in life and can be redeemed. I left the Brethren 40 years ago, had a good moan about nearly everything as one does in their Youth and set forth on a journey of my choice! I learn’t an awful lot about nearly every walk of life. You name it and I’ve been there and I have paid the price! As I was ‘third’ generation into the Brethren, obviously I feel qualified to give an opinion. I sat through hundreds of meetings including the one at Alexander Palace and many large 3-day meetings. I watched and listened as the Brethren debated Scripture. I heard their voices raised in Hymn. They implored the Lord to give them guidance in heartfelt prayer. I could find no fault in any of this. In fear of other faiths and Politics in general, the Lord Himself broke bread in an upper room! He met with only a few faithful souls at the time behind ‘closed’ doors. He also was the one who declared that if we couldn’t give up families and the things of this World and follow Him, we weren’t worthy to be called his disciples. In a few words I have summed up what Christ really wants. A people who will follow him into death itself. Death can mean losing close friends and family and perhaps a decent career, to say nothing of what they could face from rabid dissidents! But through it all, they HOLD onto their faith. They have Human Rights as well! I thank God on my knees he gave me my parents. A decent happy home full of music, prayer, food, friends and separation from this mess they call The World today. No sexual abuse from my Father, plenty of food on the table, a nice comfy car to get me around, a talented sister of the piano forte to inspire me and a good private school. Father wasn’t rich and Mother was stern, plenty of ‘good smacks’ if I pushed her too far. So could someone tell me why the Exclusives shouldn’t be ‘exclusive’ for Christ. I never joined another Church nor wanted to. True, I have visited a few services and they leave me unfulfilled. 600 Clergymen have recently left the Anglican Church, I guess they also feel unfulfilled!

Boasting that they follow the Apostle Paul, they deny it in practice. He warned not to claim to follow man ” I of Paul I of Apollos I of Cephas I of Christ” no the Christ is not divided but the Brethren fall in support “we of Taylor, we of Cowell, we of Frost, we of Rogers, we of Croydon, we of London” an inferred rectitude unbecoming of a people called to humility and penitance.
They claim the Lord’s Table as theirs, refusing access to others of Christ’s Body. They minister to themselves, refuse to have TV but switch it on when holidaying in hotels or self-catering and watch in other peoples’ homes – how hypocritical the Lord’s elect. They would never see the rectitude of using all the gifts in the Church and refuse to allow others to preach and teach – they are flawed and false teachers?
These little groups are it seems unteachable and oh that they might listen and learn from others God has given for their edification. How many disciples has God added to them in the past decade? Now time not to admit manifest mistakes but to take steps to seek the Lord and his mind. Closed minds hinder God’s Spirit-awake sleepers and may the Christ shine on you and enlighten you to His glory.

Its not a teacher these clowns are looking for, it is a puppet.
The turnover rate in these Brethren Schools is extrordinary, and having spoken to some of them, they left feeling undervalued, bullied and isolated from the real world. One who spoke to me said she felt that she was being used, as part of the indocrinating process. What was meant by this I am not entirely sure, but can only guess. She did also say that the strings are being pulled by people that know nothing about education, but think they know everything.
They do pay well though and the students are very well behaved by all accounts. With a worldwide shortage of teachers, and with the situation getting worse, they will have to pay a lot more or change some of their habits.
