Hi Mark,
Nice to hear something of you after such a long time. We had some laughs together! Seems like there is plenty of advise around which is good. I had a lot of help before I left and it helped me make the right decision. How are Carl and Dave? Do you still hang out???
Of course, I offer you my number which you can call at any time. work 020 7888 0211 mobile 07980 649 217 Home; 020 88550327.
If you are worried what I'm like then just speak to Ryan Brown - I gave him advise a few months back when he was shut up. We decided together that the best thing for him was to go back - and he's back now. I guess what I am trying to say is I'm not bent on getting people out.
Would love to speak to you again if you are up for it.
Take care and thinking of you.
Your old friend Cam (or should it be 'with love in Him')
PS Hello to anyone out there who I have not spoken to for a while. I'm sorry things get hectic and you just get a chance to catch up.

TO: Julie Fletcher:
Hi Julie, I tried to send a message to your personal e-mail address but my message did not get through to that site.
I saw your entry on the web-site and wanted to say hello. You are very brave to have left; I hope things are going ok for you. I know it is difficult to leave and that the changes are substantial; I was "withdrawn" from in 1974 and still sometimes wrestle with issues from that experience.
Julie, I was a boyhood chum of your Dad's. He and I lost contact for a long time because he was still in, but since he's been out we now talk a few times a year. He doesn't have access to e-mail since he doesn't have a computer. If you would like,I would be glad to pass along any messages.
I just wanted to say hello and to congratulate you on freeing yourself from that system. Please write or call me anytime, I would really like to know how you are doing.
Regards,
Russ McDonald

The recent entry on November 21st about a company in Goole "acting as a bureau to a large brethren printing firm" reminds
me that in the printing trade press this last week the owner of a printing company in Southampton sold his business - "for religious
reasons the previous owner did not have any electronic devices on the premises whatsoever"! It just has to be a Brethren
Company. Of course you cannot run a printing company these days without computers. A few weeks ago I was talking to
a friend who runs a flooring company in Derby. He didn't know I was brought up in the brethren and he was telling me about
a company in the north west who are the sole importers of a particular type of flooring. He needed information about something
for his fitters to do a job over the weekend and on Friday afternoon contacted the company and requested them to fax him the
diagrams. He was met with the response "I'm sorry we don't have a fax machine"! What's more, they were uninterested in his
problems. He was incredulous that anyone could stay in business these days without such things as a fax machine or computers.
It seems however you can but only if you're in the brethren!

FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY EXCELLENT HOLIDAY MUSIC
Listed below are some excellent scholarly recordings of Christmas music for those former EB's who appreciate great choral music. They are generally available during the holiday season, but less so during the rest of the year:
Adeste Fideles! Christmas down the Ages
Sony SK 62688, 1996 (74'12'')
Emma Kirkby, Soprano, Westminster Abbey Choir, English Chamber Orchestra, Abbey Consort and Ensemble, Martin Neary - Conductor. Recorded in All Saints Parish Church, Tooting Graveney, London, May 1996.
The point of this recording is to present Christmas music as it is not usually heard. Some selections are well known, others less so. The splendid 1797 arrangement of Adeste Fideles by Thomas Greatorex, organist of Westminster Abbey, for soloist, choir, and orchestra, is the one that made the hymn instantly famous. A rendition of Stille Nacht (Silent Night) with orchestra and choir, a very old version by the composer Gruber, is sung in German. A well written booklet is included.
A Mass For Christmas Morning by Michael Praetorius
Deutsche Grammophon 439 250-2, 1994 (79'00'')
Gabrieli Consort and Players, Boys Choir and Congregational Choir of Roskilde Cathedral. Paul McCreesh - Conductor. Recorded in Roskilde Cathedral, Roskilde, Denmark, October 1993.
A reconstruction by musician, scholar, and conductor Paul McCreesh of a Lutheran Christmas mass as it might have been celebrated in a North German cathedral about 1620. Luther kept the basic form of the Roman Catholic mass, but allowed greater participation by the congregation. The organ in the cathedral was restored in 1991 to its 1655 state. An informative booklet explains the music and the recording philosophy.

I am not a Brethern and have just learned about you from this website as well as a very good friend of mine. My friend left just about 2 years ago (I think) and has written into this website aswell. My questions are for those of you that have left and who have made new lives. I have fallen deeply in love with him and him with me and we hope to some day join our lives. I would like to hear any suggestions that you might have for someone like me to help him deal with the pain and hurt that he has experienced. He left behind his own family of a wife and kids. The hurt he has experienced is one that I can't understand. I try to help him but I just don't know what is best. My family has and will continue to take him in as one of the family, but what should I be doing to help him? We talk often of his kids and the way life used to be and we both end up in tears. In some ways he has such fear of life. A fear of failure, a fear of loosing me, a fear of opening up to me. I don't know what I should do. I love him and want to help him. If any of you can suggest anything to me, it would be gratly appreciated.
I hope all of you find peace in your lives and that you always believe in yourself.

To "Still Inside"
I just want you to to know that there are hundreds or maybe even thousands of us that have faced the decisions that you are trying to make right now. Please do not prolong the stressful situation that you are in. It's not going to get any better. If they figure that you are 'discouraged' they are going to hound you with visits like they did to the rest of us, but please don't leave without your family. See if you can get some time off work, pack up the family in the car and go away somewhere for a couple of weeks - forget about all the mixed up stress you are facing and get back to the basics - get back to nature somewhere quiet and start from there and get your lives back, but you need your family. We are all praying for you. If you happen to live in NZ please call - phone 06-3741878. I would be only to pleased to listen.

Hi Everyone,
Please note that I shall not be using my @aceinfo.net.au address anymore.
Could you please change your records to andiaust@yahoo.com - this is a temporary address and I will forward you with a new direct email address when it becomes effective.
Also may I just mention here, that could you just send emails that are important, necessary or of interest to me because it is now getting common for me to get all the 'other' emails containing pictures, jokes or chain letters. This I could tolerate but now with the change of addresses, I thought maybe I would take this opportunity now to just send what is necessary. Thanks.
Will be in touch again soon...

Reading the details of the early history of the Brethren has been a great help in understanding where some of the characteristics of many free evangelical churches come from!
Our Church, Beacon Evangelical was formed in 1987 by a merger of a formerly exclusive Brethren church founded pre 1892, a group from an open Brethren assembly associated with Muller and an independent church run along brethren lines. The original founders of the open brethren assembly, Mr and Mrs David Pitcairn Wright, left Ebrington St, Plymouth due to "seemingly untoward business circumstances" in 1861, spent five years at Bethesda, Bristol and then moved to Birmingham, eventually starting a church to reach and provide for the poorer classes in the industrial wedge between Birmingham and the Black Country.
Former members of the Exclusive Brethren assembly still recall the meetings around the Lord's Table where the men (at the front) all shared the ministry and the women remained (at the back) silent.
Thanks for all the effort being put into this site.

We married Manchester 1960. Left ExPBs 1961 just as the troubles began in UK after starting in NZ/AU earlier. Came to NZ[my home] '62 and went to Ludhiana Punjab '64-69 - Medical School. After a year in Baltimore and a time in Stockport returned to NZ '70 with 4 ch. Cliff HODSON and Muriel [nee Hamlett] [ex Stockport] who came to NZ in the 70s, live here with us [=/- 90y] Jan's brother PETER HODSON and sister SHIRLEY[Brian Swettenham] are here also. Giff HALLAM and Clare [nee Hamlett] and Jenny came in the 70s. Hallams both deceased. Jenny m. John Collins [Dr]from Roscommon and live here. Also out,in Bramhall/Stockport are Margaret [nee Hamlett] MOORE who lost her husb, Roy a few years ago. He was architect to U.Manc.and a priest in the C/E. Their children Andrew[Dr],Alison and Malcolm, are unmarried and Naomi m.with family in the Sth. UK. All out of ExPBs. My mother Helen C. is 96 and lives on her own nearabouts. We retired to look after our parents!
We find life v.busy but better all the time! We really enjoy worship which is the common factor for all Christians and to be encouraged in the renewal. Ask the Lord to teach you.
There are CDs which have powerful anointed worship for us. For those who want to be softened by the reality of God we point to the New Hymn Makers series, Noel/Trish Richards/Chris Bowater/Gerald Coates; BEHOLD THE LORD - St Michaels Singers at Coventry Cathedral by Kinsway 1997. #2027 Hillsong, Simply Worship I; Vineyard [London]Come Now is the Time and The Very Best Live from Around the World, WINDS OF WORSHIP - "Moving with the Lamb" [from Sth Africa.] There is so much in Vineyard and Hillsong [and no doubt elsewhare]to move us out of the so called 'Normal' Christian life if we want change - there is always something more!!! Then there is the WEB, this site, bringing people together and so many great sources to follow what God is doing round the world.
Anyone out there we haven't touched base with since those days even if they were somewhat wasted?
Best Wishes Bruce and Jan, also to those I have 'talked 'to from this list.

I note with interest that a poster on Page 18 is offering his
collection of EB ministry books. In my escape from the trap
of Brethren addiction, I reached the point where I knew that
I must cleanse my life of every trace of the Peeb addiction.
I had a vast collection of all the main EB ministry - Darby,
Stoney, Raven, Taylor, etc. plus my JND Bible and the superb
Young's Concordance. One by one each item had to go, and
they all went into the dumpster. The last to go was the JND
New Translation, a very good Bible and impossible to replace.
I knew that a total housecleaning was necessary. Clinging to
any residue of the cult's corruption could only be toxic. It
all went, and I felt cleaner when I knew I was really finally
free from it all. My recommendation to those achieving
liberation is: cleanse your life of EVERYTHING of EB origin.
You can rebuild on a wholesome uncontaminated foundation.

A response to Francis Mortyn.
My, my, a novel idea....book burning.
Why burn good books to get rid of the bad. If they are bad then do not read them or pass them on. (There are many ex-EB books that indicate the participants have over indulged in intoxicating beverage. Burn these books with great care as the alcohol content may make them explode. But, by all means do burn them. No names need be mentioned!) If they are good books then read them and pass them on. It's the on-off switch concept. We all must make choices in life.
Darby's contribution to the Christian Church of today is his outstanding teachings on Dispensationalism. If you throw out JND New Translation then you must throw out the Scofield Bible. My, what a tremedous loss.
Let us get some balance in our lives. Choose the Good and Refuse the Evil. I now that is also a novel idea to ex Exclusives but that is what we are required to do in life. Period.
If anyone is planning on throwing away their Brethren Books don't. Send them to Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque Iowa. They are number one of four libraries in North America that have an extensive collection of Brethren Books. Number two is the Hartford Seminary, Hartford Connecticut. They will be glad to receive your books.
You know, the Lord may not come for 10,000 years. Ever think of that? (You know my God wants to fill His heaven with a lot of people, not just a few.) In 10,000 years will there be any who have knowledge of a long-since extinct religion called Roman Catholicism? Will persons be following New Testament Church Principles as found in the Bible? When the Lord returns will he find Faith on the earth? Save your books. Maybe, just maybe, in the year 3055, or so, they may help someone find God's Will for their life.
My how the pedulum does swing.

Reguarding the ''advice'' to anyone wishing to ''cleanse'' themselves of the effects of the EB's by getting rid of any publications,
including JND Bibles, etc. I suggest the answear is found in the same scriptures that were put in the dumpster, that being the fact
that it is what is in man that defiles, not externals. To suggest that ''cleansing'' can be achieved by any other means than self
judgement and repentence is simply error, and falls under the same catagory as the false teaching that got us so far off the
track as we did. The fault lies within our own selves, and comes from pride, [ we were the ''church'', we had a special
message from God that no one else had, we were the ''vessels to honour'' we had the ''light''] Any person, or group that
does not acknowlege the fact that ''what God has cleansed,do not thou make common'' is dispising the work of God
in another believer, and is not on scriptural grounds, personally, or collectively.Unfortionately this false teaching has found
it's place, and still remains, stoutly defended, in many groups today. Down through the years, and even today, believers
suffer persecution at the hands of those who profess to follow the teachings of our Lord. The EB's are not some strange
phenomena, they are just one more example of what happens when the Word of God is not the final authority. It would be
very nice if we could rid ourselves of the effects of pride by merely burning books, or throwing out JND bibles, but that
is avoiding the issue of taking personal responsability by pointing the finger elsewhere. Burn the books if you wish, but
you are left with the same heart and unregenerate flesh, and that is where the fault lies. The human heart always is looking
for some outward way of avoiding self jugement, whether it be by being in the ''right position'', or putting on ceremonial
robes, chanting mantras, lighting candles, or doing penance. It doesn't work, it never did, and it never will.

When I was quite young our local meeting welcomed a convert who had departed the
Church of Rome and became an EB. Some time later he returned to the Church of Rome.
The discussions among the Brethren impressed my young mind. They pointed out that
he had never discarded his Rosary, a lasting reminder of his former affiliation. I was
impressed by that point and I think the Brethren were correct. If you cannot say goodbye
to every object which reminds you of the trap in which you were held it can injure you. That is
why I think the dumpster is the right destination for your "ministry books" etc. when you
achieve your liberation from the cult. The dancer Isadora Duncan writes of the moment when
she knew she must make a clean break with her past. She was in a troika (horse drawn vehicle)
crossing the snows of Russia. Taking out her carefully preserved collection of love letters, she
scattered them to the winds of the steppes and proceeded to build a new, liberated life.

Regarding the entry of Francis Mortyn, December 2nd.
I think it's perfectly fine to burn those books if you want to. If you feel like it gives you renewal, then certainly, you should.
Now you will have time to read some REALLY good books. May I recommend Alan Watts, Tom Robbins, Dostoevsky, D. H. Lawrence, and the great poet, Walt Whitman? Perhaps you've already read them. They are some of my favorites. What about the poetry of Stephen Crane, Rilke, or Tsvetaeva?
The truth is out there.

Would love to hear from any of our old friends and relatives we knew and grew up with amongst the Exies. We left in
1973 and have never regretted leaving, although even now miss a lot of our loved ones still in there. Our daughter Marcelle
who was 4 when we left is married to David Dark (an Australian) and they have two children. Our eldest son Adrian who
was 18 months old when we left has recently married Tina Sinclair of Mt Manganui, and they're currently living in London.
Our youngest son Peter is engaged, soon to be married to Deborah Russ of Auckland. Rhoda's parents have both passed
away (in 1990 and 1992), and my mother Eunice (nee Piesse) passed away in 1991. My father Neil is still living near us in
a rest home and is now 84 years old.
We would be interested to hear any news of my brother Mervyn Suckling, my sister Rosalie Wallace, and Rhoda's brother David Forrest who are still members of the Exclusives in Auckland.

G'day,
while not every having been part of _any_ of the 'Brethren', I did have several school-mates who were 'PleB's (or is that "PlyB"s? ;')
In later years, I've become a Christian (of a primarily 'evangelical' persuasion) with an interest in Dispensationalism and its history - which tied in JND with with my PB friends.
I know a couple of the people I knew at school have left ( one I found out today on this site).
Please pardon my ignorance at the abuses hinted to in some of the messages.
I ask God to richly bless you all in Jesus' Name,
Harry

I've received many e-mails re my entry on "Book Burning." Thanks to all. I really l;ike what Francis Martyn says in his 12-6-00 entry. Let me repeat it.
"If you can not say goodbye to every object that reminds you of the trap in which you were held it can injure you."
I would only add that it "WILL" injure you.
It is not a matter of the condition of your heart. It has to do with being able to choose good and not evil.
Personally I'm averse to buying or reading any book that is green, brown or white. !!!!
And our dear friend Harry Woodward-Clark....Now that's the spirit to have. "I ask that God richly bless you in Jesus name." Thank you Harry

I left the Jim cult in 1978 and have not looked back with any regrets. If anything I realize how good God has been to me
delivering me from such evil. I was single until 1989 when a wonderful, fine Christian man found me. We were married in
June 1990 in the Roman Catholic Church, even though I was not in the R.C. faith. My husband
was born in Nova Scotia. Six months after we were married I was diagnosed with cancer, but even in this I realize
God has been very good to me as I am now 10 years CA free. In 1995 I was concerned that I was not one with my husband
partaking in the communion at Mass every week and at Easter 1996, I was baptised, confirmed and took my first communion
in the Roman Catholic faith at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Hamilton. I can now be a whole christian not a hypcritical
person. God has proven to me so many times that he loves me over and over and has never forsaken me --- even though I
am no longer a PB. I hope anyone who recognizes me and is in the Hamilton area, please do not hesitate to give me a call
at 905-527-2760. Our address is 222 Jackson Street West, Apartment 606, Hamilton, Ontario, L8P4S5.

I left the meeting in 1978, which was a tremendous trauma, but a wonderful deliverance from a dangerous cult.
The Lord has been watching over me very kindly since I made my move and has provided me what I was in
need of -- a very kind friend who helped me emotionally and psychologically to realize I had been brainwashed
and was now free to live a proper Christian life. Unfortunately he passed away in 1989 and I was now on my
own, but was very much aware of how much the Lord loved me. I met a very kind Christian Roman Catholic
man, by the name of Roderick Alexander Chisholm who originally came from Nova Scotia. We were married
in his church, St. Charles Garnier Church, June 1990. We had a very happy Wedding Day. Life went on and
there was a little glitch 6 months after our marriage --- I was diagnosed with cancer - had surgery, radiation
and the chemo and now 10 years later I am still enjoying married life. I became concerned about the fact that
the Lord had been so good to me and I was not remembering Him in the Sacrament of Communion therefore,
in 1996 I became a Roman Catholic after being baptized, confirmed at the Cathedral of Christ the King in
Hamilton. I now feel I am truly a full Christian and not a hypocritical half one. The Lord has been truly beside
me all the way and I now hear a true interpretation of the Bible every time I attend Mass in other words a TRUE
GOSPEL. I pray constantly that those poor brainwashed souls in the "cult" will have the scales removed from
their blinded eyes and the evil be halted.

I get from your note that you are looking for friends for yourself and your children. And you don't know me from Adam, so this note might seem a little forward. Please forgive me. By sharing my personal story with you, I sincerely mean to be encouraging to you.
I encourage you to spread your net wide. There are many people out there just longing for a connected relationship with you. And most of them probably live within walking distance of your home. Don't be constrained by your old habits of where to look, how to judge, etc., when looking for friends.
I am now very happily not invloved with any religious organization. Yet I meet with lots of people on a regular basis - parents of my children's friends at school, colleagues at work, neighbours, clients. I live in the West and act like a Westerner. And my children are growing up to be connected, confident, authentic human beings. They are growing up without the scars that I have. They are most certainly not seperate.
For your kids sake too, find friends from all walks of life and experiences. In so doing you will also conquer your own fears that you learned about people in the Exclusives.
My parents left (were withdrawn from?) in the early 70s. They went to a group of people that had left earlier, who had set up a Brethren meeting in Weybridge. Although they were "out" they still acted like they were in. The places that we were not allowed to go as kids, the people that we were not allowed to associate with, the clubs at school that we were not allowed to join, etc. I guess my parents still wanted there to be some value in being seperate. For me that was a terrible burden and shame. I was quite unprepared to meet the real world, to make decisions independently, etc., skills required for ordinary life, especially on the emotional side - trust, forgiveness, acceptance, truthfulness, authenticity.
It is my experience that ex-brethren who still attend church tend not to have fallen very far from the tree on which they started. As you read in the preceding entries on this web-site, there are a lot of comments making people, ideas, walks of life, etc. out to be wrong. It is that sentiment, taken to extreme, that allowed the EBs to exist in the first place. Being RIGHT got them stuck. There is little love shown in making people wrong. There is less of a platform there for walking beside people to be an influence in their lives.
Hope this was helpful.
Thanks for listening.
Daniel

I was born and raised in Philadelphia area and was transferred by my job to the Charleston,SC area in 1982. I grew up among the Taylor branch of the so-called exclusive brethren, but in a family whose father was faithful amidst unfaithfullness. What joy it was to find relief from legal bondage through the grace of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ in 1971! But I thank God that He preserved me from "throwing out the baby with the bathwater", and my joy is full in knowing that my life is hidden with Christ in God and not dependent on my feelings or my earthly relation with any other mere mortal, even other true saints. But it is a great burden and sorrow to my heart to see other people who have had the privilege of being close to where they could have learned the truth but were led astray by false shepherds (Ezek. 34). Oh, it is fearful to think of what an accounting those false shepherds will give in the coming day, but the good, great and chief shepherd is still awaiting and yearning the return in repentance and confession of all who are on paths contrary to his Word.
I had the privilage of marrying a dear sister from Denver, CO who had been delivered from Roman Catholicism before she was deeply entrapped in its idolatrous bondage and doctrinal errors. I have been meeting for 17 yrs with a group of saints in Summerville on assembly principles and the Lord is blessing us with the knowledge of Himself. What more is there in life that is worth having? For the Lord Jesus is the true God and eternal life.
We are located about 30 miles east of I-95, but if any hungry, thirsty souls wish for fellowship, please feel free to contact me. And yes, we believe in using a guestbook.

Daniel Lee states:
It is my experience that ex-brethren who still attend church tend not to have fallen very far from the tree on which they started.
Unfortunately this is true of too many ex-Brethren, who never come to realise the funamental flaws of the cult they have left, separation being one of them. They keep gravitating towards ex-brethren groups or others comfortably like what they have left.
However, do not generalise. Some are able to throw off the false indoctrination of their childhood, and accept that true Christianity does not involve physical separation and the many other false brethren beliefs.
Ex-Brethren need to think like reformed alcoholics - stick to the mainline churches and avoid those fringe groups which are too Brethren-like. They can too easily lead you back to the bad old ways of thinking and back into the Brethren heresies.
Finally, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater - Brethrenism is not Christianity, it is false Christianity.

As we now approach 4 Advent, a time not of noisy parties and glitz but of quiet expectation, let us
prepare for the joy of the Nativity. I really look forward to Midnight Mass on December 24, then after
Nativity comes Holy Innocents. Time to reflect on the killing of children which is going on in the
Occupied Territories where Jesus once walked. This is the first Christmas in two thousand years in
which Bethlehem is not a place where Christians may visit to rejoice at Christ's birth.

Dear Friends;
I find it very interesting reading all the comments of the "X"s. Let me share for myself a bit. My biggest healing really started when I prayed & said, "God, I love my Brethren & I forgive them." I felt a real burden lift from me. It was so real that it was like a heavy bundle lifted off my shoulders. Jesus said, "Come unto me all that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest." That's awesome! Just get to know Him. Come to Him. He is the great healer. I love you all and wish everyone a very happy Christmas & a blessed New Year in & for 'Him'. Some thoughts on Sectarianism. See Luke 9:49-50.
May we accept all who Christ accepts.
What ever is done in Christ's name forwards His cause.
They drew a circle that shut me out-
Rebel, Heretic, thing to flout;
But Love and I had the wit to win-
We drew a circle that took them in.

I have written a couple of articles on the Brethren and also helped set-up a website representing a number from churches linked to the more "progressive" end of Open Brethren, who would find some of the harmful practices Dick Wyman's site helps to expose, utterly abhorent: http://freespace.virgin.net/john.barber1/

Dear Dick:
It was a pleasure to see the year end report of your web-site. My complements again and thanks for the way you keep this site alive and well. It continues to lead me almost weekly to some interesting connections.
My impression is that the Lord Jesus is using and will use this site to exercise the hearts of those of us who, through His wonderful grace, have been delivered from the Exclusive Brethren false religious system. To exercise our hearts to pray with "unceasing prayer," 1 Thessalonians 5:17 for the many brethren still enslaved and held captive in this false system of religious iniquity.
It is amazing to realize how Satan's deceptive power has been so effective to hold persons, who believe they are serving the Lord Jesus Christ, in such a way that they are serving the Devil himself. It is of note that the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 11 points out the probability of such deception. Verse 2 reads "For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." And further in the same chapter, verses 13,14 "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works."
Also in the epistle to the Galatians the apostle Paul exposes the tremendous power that Satan had to deceive even Peter. He states in chapter 2:11 "Now when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed (or condemned); ..And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy." What hypocrites we EB's have been! The realization of this becomes more and more staggering to me!
I believe our urgent need is to take account of the apostle Paul's word to the Ephesians in chapter 5:13,14, "But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says: awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light." Ephesians 5:14.
I was in this system, had my part in promoting it too. It is just wonderful grace from Jesus that He would reach forth from above and draw me out of many waters, like Psalm 18:16 reads. My plea and prayer is that Jesus in His wonderful and gracious, priestly service will hear the intercessory prayer of all of our hearts and be pleased to set free in freedom (Galatians 5:1) our many brethren. And as set free may we not be held again in a yoke of bondage.
I would welcome comments from any who wish to share their concerns. I feel persuaded that our need is to humble ourselves under God's mighty hand, 1 Peter 5:6, and He will work in His wondrous grace, in His wonderful timing, to reach through to those that are prepared to open their heart door to His continued knocking.
With greetings in Jesus to all.

We left the "Taylor party in July 1970 after years of being unhappy with the unscriptural docrines and practises. We have been in fellowship in an assembly of the Lord's dear people in a district of Belfast for over 20 years.
During the last 8 years we have been involved with the Lord's work in Albania. We have visited the country 14 times and had the joy of seeing moslems and others brought to Christ. Cecil has had the privilege of preaching and ministering the word in Albanian in the 18 assemblies as well as in mountain villages. We also have sent regularly large trucks of Bibles,Christian literature and humanitarian aid. What a joy it is to try and make up for many wasted years.

I left in 1970. I was 16 and thought that my world had ended. I still remember the first mouthful of a meal with a person who had been withdrawn from. I ate it fearing that some Divine intervention would strike the room! As a lower class member, until I left, I was slavishly obedient to the rules.
After a few years of attempting to carry on the same Exclusive thinking, I have had a rich, rewarding life of variety and I have loved it. Sometimes I think that my early upbringing was a severe handicap but it has given me insight and tolerance of other beliefs. I have studied engineering, property and law and am now working as a commercial lawyer.
The devastation of my family has been long term and continues. This is the legacy of rigid beliefs and a lack of understanding the essence of live.

Some months ago I wrote about my great aunt, Grace Lambert, the famous children's illustrator who was better known as Grace Marsh Lambert. I wrote to ask whether anyone remembered her - she died in 1981. I had several responses. I was writing on behalf of two authors and enthusiasts for children's illustrated books from the early 20th Century, Peter and Dawn Cope. They found the responses very useful. The book is now published and it has a section on Grace Lambert as well as all the others from Mabel Lucie Attwell to Walt Disney to Mary Tourtel (the originator of Rupert Bear). It is published by New Cavendish Books in London and costs around £30. Strongly recommended. The sobering thing is that if Grace Lambert were alive today the mad "priests" would have prevented her from using her God-given talents to create such wonderful art. Or she would have had to leave the sect. I think she would have probably left. No, make that definitely. And her husband, my Uncle Charlie too.
One last point and my main reason for writing. If anyone has some memories of Grace, do get in touch, even if you did not before. Radio 4's Woman's Hour wants to do a programme item about these illustrators, most of whom were women. Peter asked me if I could find anyone who remembers Grace well enough to say anything.

I have not long left the EBs, July last year, and am searching for those who know the pain and suffering of leaving all ur family behind in the church. The pain gets unbearable sometimes but I know that I'm not alone and others have been there before me. I often long to talk to someone who knows and understands what I'm going through, so if u think u can help then please contact me. I am only 19 years old and my boyfriend Jason has never been with the brethren. Thanks for taking the time to read this and take care. Esther

Each Sunday our Mass uses the BCP rite and makes room for "Prayers of the People". From time to time I say aloud the name "John Hales", desiring that God might touch and soften his heart. The most destructive people are the people who most need our prayers.
In Romans 12 St. Paul sets up a clear standard for us. Recompense to no man evil for evil ... If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peacably with all men ... Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves ... it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if tthine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink ... Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

We have heard that Richmond Greene of Vancouver, B.C., has been in an accident and may have been partially paralized. Wondering if anyone from that area has heard anything in this regard. He has an aunt here. We are unsure if he is now back in the Taylors, he was out at one time. He is son of David and HelenAnn. Thanks for your help.

The juxtaposition of Esther Mclean's entry and Bro Frank's is interesting. For Esther, the pain is sometimes unbearable while Frank affectionately mutters his name in a Holy place!

Very interesting.
My Great great grandfather John Morley is listed as one of the 66 prominent bretheren of the Plmouth assembly at its begining.
I came to the Lord not knowing this and found the assemblies quite by accident and now preach on a regular basis at various Gospel hall's in the Toronto area.

can you please furnish a list of british members of parliament broadly supportive of the jims. An election is imminent. I would like the oppurtunity of communicating the truth to these misled individuals. I understand these are exclusively members of the conservative party, it figures somehow.
